LAS VEGAS -- A 5 On Your Side investigation was nationally recognized over the weekend for uncovering why millions of dollars of donations never reached the nation's disabled veterans.

The Disabled American Veterans honored investigator Ron Regan and NewsChannel5 for a series of reports that aired in November.

Regan's investigation found a local charity raised nearly $5 million and almost all of it went to a big telemarketer, instead of disabled veterans.

The award was presented at the Disabled American Veterans National Convention in Las Vegas and represents the highest honor for public service reporting.
