Monday Is Last Day To Register To Vote

Voters Line Up Before BOE Opens To Cast Ballot

The Clement family in Tallmadge spent Sunday registering to vote.

NewsChannel5 reporter John Kosich said they are among the many turning out at the Summit County Board of Elections voting site to vote early in the general election.

"Should a bus hit me tomorrow, I want my vote in there," said one voter.

That's why people were lined up before the doors opened, not only in Summit County, but in Cuyahoga County where part of East 30th Street was shut down to accommodate the number of people looking to vote early.

That included former Browns player Greg Pruitt.

"Some of my friends said they went right in and right out, so I guess I'm avoiding waiting in long lines," Pruitt said.

Ohio is one of only 25 states where early voting has started. A quirk in the law allows people to register and vote on the same day through Monday, just one of the reasons for the huge turnout this Sunday.
